Tis the season to be... jolly?

So I'll admit this is probably the least magical holiday season yet the way things are going now, but none the less its alright! I'm coming down with something I think so it was hard to draw at all, I basically just sat down with my sketchbook opened and wasted my time on the internet instead lololol

WHAT CAN DO YOU AMIRITE

So here's what I managed to draw

Derp faces or what, maaan my head is pounding

and more comfort zone art because I had to draw something

Once I am back to full health I want to start focusing on male anatomy and animal anatomy!

More soon!

Bloggin'

Here's what I drew today!

 30 second poses in ink

Some 30 second poses in thick orange high lighter. Using the high lighter I often finished before the 30 seconds were up.

Some 15 second poses in blue high lighter

Some 30 second poses in blue highlighter, these ones had clothes though!

Tried my hand at drawing some of my characters again, had a lot of fun! I really want to get back into it!

Finally a study I started this morning, not done yet obviously but I'm not hating how it looks atleast!

 More soon!

Aaaaaaalrighty then.

WOW HAS IT ALREADY BEEN A WEEK SINCE MY LAST UPDATE I'm in awe at how fast time is going by. But somehow its going by slowly too.... Work has been busy and hectic due to the holiday season, I haven't even had time to enjoy the time of year yet! Its hard to get home and open my sketchbook when I have so many other things to do and prepare and christmas blahblah. I'm going to get back in the swing of things as best as I can, updating every other day and such, but I'm not going to FORCE myself to draw something when I know it would only be quick and crappy.

I have tried to sit down and just draw but nothing ever comes out. Its kind of like an art block I suppose, I just don't know what to draw. Studies seem to be the only thing I can handle, but I'll need to branch off from drawing only referenced stuff for a while. I'll do some of that next update for sure!

Anyways! Here are some 30 second colored pencil studies.

30 second studies in ink

I noticed that when I was doing 30 second poses in ink that I would often finish before the 30 second were up. So, I tried my hand at some 15 second poses!

When I was younger I wasn't the kind of person to use many references, I never straight up copied art styles or anything like that either. Nowadays I use references all the time for my figure studies, but why not my art style? So! I popped The Incredibles into my laptop, paused the screen and copied the characters. I absolutely love the style, definitely going to keep studying it!

Digital art has been really slow for me lately, I'm just so used to sitting down and drawing quick studies that I'm having trouble starting something I know will take many hours. I guess I'll just muscle my way through it!

So here's a wip of something random, a goat.. looking at other goats int he distance.. yep.

Some bff birdies on a branch

And I started adding color to this!

Hopefully more soon!

Chug chug chuggin'

I still can't believe how fast time has been flying by. I'm barely in the christmas spirit yet and we're already the 8th!

Anyways, I've been practicing my figure drawing and gesture drawing a lot and I like to think that I've made some progress!

Some quick figure drawings! Didn't use refs and it shows!

More refless stuff

My very poor attempt at drawing hands quickly, bahahahahaaa so saaaad!

Still reading Hampton's book and still loving it! I'm trying to learn how weight and balance and all that good stuff works.

And lastly a wip I start just for fun!

More on saturday!

Tehee

I'm back! Haha didn't keep to the updating every other day thing for very long, but I knew I wouldn't! Been so busy the last couple of days I didn't have time to even open my sketchbook. I'm starting again as of today but I'm guessing weekends are going to continue to throw me off track! As long as I draw as often as I can that's all that really matters!

Some quick figure studies

I'm working on putting together my portfolio but I find there really isn't much variety in my works. So I'm trying get some more traditional art in there, mainly studies and such. I started this one which isn't finished. I really have to work on the values and all that, not too happy with how its looking but I never am with my traditional art anyways!

And a fist study which I'm not too fond of either, gotta rework this one too!

I'd also like to make a painting demonstrating my (very limited) knowledge of perspective! Just a random draft I started, some guy fishing or something, yep.

More soon!

Why must titles even exist

Its done! I think? Gah I always have trouble cleaning everything up at the end of my paintings, but I'm happy with the result anyways! I'll admit its not perfect, there are things I could fix up and what not but I have so much stuff to draw I don't have time to linger!

Here are some 30 second poses, I'm actually starting to see an improvement! I'm feeling way more comfortable drawing these as well.

More 30 second poses

I decided I would try drawing a front and side view of a man without reference. its not that bad I guess!

And some figure studies!

Gotta draw more!

Who needs a good title anyways

So I'm feeling really motivated lately! I really think starting a sketchbook on conceptart helped get me out of my art block, everyone is so nice and offers such great critique!

Here we have some quick ink figure studies, I've decided I really want to try and draw with pens more often. I feel as though my biggest weakness is drawing itself, I'm not very confident with my lines. But this is the sort of thing that will take A LOT of practice until I start seeing a difference. Luckily I just bought a new sketchbook so I'm going to start filling the pages with ink drawings!

More quick ink drawings! Will definitely be making more of these, some of them are garbage though! Gotta practice practice practice

A face study I painted yesterday, under an hour.

And lastly a (slightly) updated wip of Jackie, nearing completion!

Will update again on wednesday!

Works in progress because I am forgetful

So ready to start updating with new art every other day, I usually spend my weekends at my boyfriend's house so I packed my laptop up and brought it with me!.... BUT I FORGOT MY TABLET. And I don't really have access to a scanner. SO. All I have to show for are some wips of studies. Oh well, as long as I update with something.

First up we have a funny sailor guy, I've only worked on it for something like 30 minutes so obviously its still rough, not sure if I want to finish it more than this though!

And a folds/figure study, planning on finishing this one all nice and polished!

Okay so there is a scanner here but I'd have to set it up and download some drivers and stuff like that so.... dunno maybe I'll have the will later, then again we'll probably be going out so I can stop at my house to pick up my tablet! So hopefully there will be an entry with actual sustenance tonight/tomorrow!

Lets try this!

So, I've made a decision.... I don't know how well its going to go but I'm going to try my best. I was inspired by a friend of mine who's updating her blog daily, I think that's too ambitious for me so I'm going to try and update every two days! I don't know how I'm going to do that on weekends but I suppose I'll manage somehow!

So here are some sketch studies from Hampton's book, I'm learning a lot!

I actually sat down and timed myself when I was painting for once, which I have never done before. Not particularly happy with this speed paint but its a start I suppose! From a blank canvas this took about an hour.

Here's another quick hour study, I found a new brush that I absolutely love! Will be using it more in the future!

And lastly a wip! Looking forward to continuing this one!

Flashvember or what la.

I'm actually astonished at how quickly November flew by! I've barely gotten over the feeling of Halloween and already there's christmas music playing and decorations everywhere! Not that I'm complaining, I LOVE christmas!

But anyways, I've been keeping busy lately with the release of Skyrim (omfg too fuuunn) and now I've got Skyward sword too, but I'm promising myself that I'm still going to draw. Also been busy working on a big scholarship application!

This is going to be a long one.

Here we have some gesture drawings, I reeeeally need to draw more of these!

And some ink figures

Ink and pencil gesture drawings

More figure studies

Started designing more characters as of late, still not comfortable with this style but I'm trying!
I started a little project designing a bunch of witch characters based on the letters of the word "witch". So basically I'm trying to make them resemble their respective letters!

these sketches are a bit more polished

And more character designing! This guy I was designing for my art school portfolio, not really happy with these sketches but I thought i would share anyways!

I also started a priest project of sorts, just designing a bunch of different priest!

Here I tried to design two different character based on the same animal that still look different, it was a fun little exercise! Gotta keep practiciiing~

Here are some random sketches of another character I have in the works!

And I'll finish off with some works in progress!
Here we have lumberjack girl (whom I've named Jackie) I really liked this sketch of her although I need to work out some kinks in the anatomy and such!

And finally a self portrait I also have to do for my art school portfolio, still very rough!

Jeez I didn't post until now because I thought I didn't have anything to show for, I gotta start posting more frequently but with smaller loads!

Cheers!
